Community Guidelines

The short version

Lysties is a place to find good spots through real photos from people who have actually been there. Be honest, be kind, be real. Those three things cover almost everything below.

These guidelines are part of our Terms of Service. They apply to everything you post: photos, captions, comments and your profile.

Terms of Service

What makes a good post

The best posts help a stranger decide whether to go. Take the photo yourself, at the place or about the place. Tag the right place. Answer “Would you go back?” the way you really feel it, even if it's “Not really”.

Say what it's like. Pick up to three vibes and the occasion that fit, and add a caption with something useful: what you ordered, what stood out, who it suits. Short and specific beats long and gushing.

Be honest about places

Reviews only mean something if they're real. Please don't:

  • Post about a place you haven't been to.
  • Review your own business, or one you work for, as if you were a customer.
  • Write or ask for fake, paid or traded reviews, or push people to leave good ones.
  • Run down a competitor, or post a bad review to settle a score.

Treat people with respect

Disagree with a post, not with a person. We don't allow harassment, bullying, threats or insults, and we don't allow hate: attacking people because of their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or similar traits.

Don't share other people's private information, like their phone number, home address or documents, and don't encourage others to go after someone.

Respect the people in your photos

Lysties is about places, not about catching people out. If someone is clearly recognisable in your photo and wouldn't expect to be, crop them out or leave the photo out. Take extra care with children: don't post a child's photo without a parent or guardian's okay.

If you're in someone's photo and you'd like it gone, report it. We take those requests seriously.

No spam, fakes or tricks

Please don't spam: no repeated or copy-pasted posts, comments or follows, no unrelated ads or links, and no scams. Don't buy or trade likes, comments or followers, and don't use several accounts to climb a leaderboard or get around a removal.

Be yourself. Don't pretend to be another person, a business or the Lysties team. If your profile copies someone else's name or photo to mislead people, we'll remove it.

Nothing illegal, dangerous or sexual

Don't post anything illegal or that helps harm people: selling illegal goods, fraud, violence, or content that encourages self-harm. Don't spread false information that could hurt people.

Sexual content and nudity don't belong on Lysties. Anything sexual involving a minor is never tolerated: we remove it, close the account and report it to the authorities where the law allows or requires.

Post only what you have the right to share. Don't upload photos, text or logos that belong to someone else.

How reporting works

Open the menu on a post or a comment and choose Report. Pick the reason (spam, inappropriate content, harassment or bullying, false information, or something else) and add details if they help.

Our team reviews reports. We don't pre-approve posts, so reports are how we find most problems. We don't tell the person you report who reported them.

Not ready to report? You can also block someone from a post's menu, so you stop seeing each other's posts and comments, or choose “Show fewer like this” to see less of something.

What happens when someone breaks the rules

Depending on how serious it is and whether it's a first time, we may remove the post or comment, limit what the account can do, suspend it, or close it for good. For the most serious things, we act straight away. When we act on your account we'll usually tell you why, and if you think we made a mistake you can write to [email protected] and ask us to take another look.
